Fragility of Dreams

Chasing Freedom Through Adversity

Firstly let’s get this out of the way, making millions on the internet is like winning the lottery in more ways than one, sure they both feel good and they both set you free and normally happen very fast, a lottery win means you go to bed one night not a millionaire and when you wake up you are (assuming you hit the jackpot of course) and the story appears to be very much the same with the internet, you work seemingly at nothing for a period of time and then you hit that one formula or niche that then sends you sky-rocketing.

But they also share another trait, the desire to participate is a personal decision and anybody who has bought a lottery ticket, just like watching the next “How I became a Millionaire in 7 short days” video, I would be willing to bet has sat and daydreamed about what their life would be like if that money was theirs.

It is our personal dream, our vision and our desire that we follow, and others (usually our closest friends and family) that start to question us as we spend more time researching and looking into how to start and what to do and start watching videos of people sounding very positive and in a lot of cases talking what appears to be non-sense about lifestyles and possessions reserved only for celebrities.

You see our dreams are fragile because we haven’t got anything to show for it yet, nothing physical to stand in our corner when people question what we are doing, what we hope to achieve and in the face of the age old question “if it was that easy wouldn’t everybody be doing it?” you have to protect that dream and hold on to it for dear life, because that is what we are buying, our lives back from the world.

It is so much harder to listen to and defend against negative views and comments from loved ones than the rest of the world, people outside our trusted social circle are easy to dismiss, they don’t know us, they don’t know anything about what we have achieved in the past or what the situation is now, so what possible value could their un-informed comment have?

But our closest circle, have listened to our plans (if you are anything like me probably at length and very enthusiastically), they do know us because the live with us or we see and speak to them on a very regular basis, and finally they are aware of what we have achieved in our lives so far, so their opinion cannot be dismissed so easily can it?

Well here is an odd way to think about it but try this, unless you are lucky enough to have a significant other/spouse, or an enthusiastic business partner that is following your progress and learning and has the same dream as you, then you need to cut them a break, don’t get angry when they question what you are doing and what the chances are, or how much do others make, even “well I don’t see how you can make money from it, it’s just [insert social media here] or why would people buy from you on [insert chosen affiliate program here]” sit down and calmly explain it to them, after all if you do not have the answers to hand then it is a valid question, if you don’t know what you are chasing then is it obtainable ? and if you do have the answers to hand, reciting them and educating your audience will only serve to further strengthen your resolve and cement the process in your own mind.

You cannot explain what it feels like to take off handcuffs for the first time, but you can vocalise the freedom of moving your arms.

Be patient with the people closest to you always, they only see the extra time and the stress and sometimes the disappointment caused by a set back or a plan deviation, a wife/husband may also see the bank balance going down with nothing coming in, and children can pick up on all this and more, when this happens STOP and think back to your images of success, look closely at the faces of the people in the images and make sure you do not alienate them because if you really think about it, those images without those faces are pretty grim.

Money in solitude is toxic, it turns in on us, chase freedom chase life and success, money will follow.

Wealth, Proper Wealth!

Stop playing at it and commit to changing your life

I have a job, fortunately for me it is fairly well paid and we can do nice things once or twice a year without too much concern and we live in a nice house, obviously this varies up and down the job spectrum and some people will make more than others and they will have differing lifestyles as a result,

But I have never been happy with the way things are, I along with many many others have always aspired to bigger and better things, and have gained these things using the only vehicle open to me Credit.

  • Credit Card Debt Alone in the UK – An average of £2,688 unpaid on Credit Cards per household
  • Credit Card Debt Alone in the US – An average of $7,000 Per Credit Card Holder

Another staggering example of how much this costs to repay I found actually on a letter from my Credit Card company, at current rates If I borrowed £1,000 and made the minimum payment each month it would take 20 years to pay it off and I would be paying over £2,500 in interest!

This is because we are conditioned from an early age to listen at school get jobs and prop up the corporate system with interest payments on a borrowed lifestyle, a Job will in the vast majority of cases keep you poor.

What is the Alternative ?

A second job? could do but when are you supposed to live? we are here for such a small time and the and even smaller amount of time to enjoy freedom of choice and self-responsibility so no a second job is not really the alternative, besides in the UK (and I am sure elsewhere) when the Government get wind that you have a second job and might be trying to improve your lot in life they increase the TAX on it to the point where in most cases it becomes worthless.

We are doomed then ?

Again, no there are (and I know I do not need to tell you this) many many ways to become rich, the internet has changed the playing field and now even vacuous pseudo celebrities with nothing more to say than what they had for breakfast and what underpants they are going to wear today become multi-millionaires, people work hard at affiliate marketing and finally get the breakthrough they need and make a lot of money every day, or they learn enough to peddle a course to learn how to market or both!

Ways to make money online

  • Affiliate Marketing – One of the highest potentials as the scope to sell to millions of people is vast, remember a single Dollar from 1 million people is still a million.
  • Social Media – sell your life online, with enough followers you will be contacted by people wanting you to sell stuff for them.
  • Online Market Trading – Again a way to make a lot of money, unfortunately also a way to lose a lot of money, thing to remember here is that you are trying mimic traders, and they have studied at length to do what they do, don’t be fooled into thinking you can get a system and order the Lambo on the same day!
  • Motivational Speaking / Social Media – “Cough Cough” lots of people have set themselves up as motivational speakers and these range from the bland simple posting of a nice picture with some inspirational words over the top to actual content that has been considered and has some value, as a side note I try to be the latter, this has the opportunity to make a small fortune done right, and done right a colossal difference to potentially millions of lives, so win win!
  • Paid For…. – Scraping the barrel a little here I have looked at numerous versions of these and found them all to be paid so little that the time to carry out the task is much more valuable, some may be good but I have not found any yet.

There are also many many more, but these are the main ones I have looked at, the only real rule is to learn, sure get the framework from others who have walked the path, but it is always “Buyer Beware” look closely at the videos, Google the names, although you will always find results that suggest SCAM, look at both arguments equally before making a decision, we can learn from any source it is what we do with the knowledge that is important.

So the goal here is to be the best I can be, and make as much money as is required to not have to worry about money, sure money alone will not bring happiness but when was the last time you didn’t have money on your mind ? and was it that you had to much ?……

One thing I would suggest and is where I have started is to get rid of as much debt as you can, free up as much of your own money as possible and start to buy your way out of the Hamster wheel, most of us refer to it as the rat race but this is to suggest that there is effort in vain, that success will never be attained and that we are participating in self-deprecating activities, but a race can also be WON, so I hope that you like me, will join all the other rats, leave the Hamsters on their wheels and get the cheese just as countless others have.

It would be awesome to get comments below and start discussion among like-minded people, as I said there is always something to learn and discussion as the mother of idea, without it there can be knowledge transferral.

Practice the Preaching ep3

Ok so this morning was a prime example of a perfect storm, I was up late and I had to be in work very early for a change that I was implementing, so as I have said in the past I had to prioritise, ultimately bread on the table always has to win, all other efforts are to support this not in spite of this so there was no walk, no hour of cardio followed by half hour of Yoga, I followed my emergency morning routine.

  • Planks on front, both sides and back held for a minute each.
  • Seated splits stretch held for a minute
  • forward fold held for (you guessed it) a minute
  • Bridge pose held for a minute
  • And finally deep goddess pose ( I wish it was a little more manly ) held for a minute

This is by no means a comprehensive workout but it does help to wake the body up and not let it get even remotely comfortable with the idea of a sedentary life again, remember every time you do something you reinforce it and eventually it becomes habit and then second nature.

Practice the Preaching ep1

As a counterbalance to the vast majority of these types of sites where readers get preached at and are then subject to perfectly timed updates about the authors activities seemingly agnostic of time and the requirement for sleep, I am starting this series of mini posts (they will all be a lot shorter than this one) to catalogue my progress, because I believe each time we do one thing toward a goal no matter how small it is progress.

So if one is late then I probably did it late, if one is missed I probably had something to do other than yoga for instance, but I will try and make them as close to the time I complete the progress as I can, they will never be on a timed publish to appear that I am up at 5.00am when in fact I am tucked up in bed with my cuddly toys counting sheep!

So for this morning, I am going to do 10 minute Yoga routine for flexibility (I am 43 and really need that), a 10 minute Yoga routine for core and pelvic strength (see reason above) and then for cardio I will put in a 45 min power walk (just going quicker than usual with the family dog)

See you all later!

No Goal No Gain

So the first thing that I started to think about was “what makes a Superhuman?” and here we have the first of many questions that are completely personal in their reply, however there is a certain amount of commonality when considering this question, it is easy to say that a Superhuman has some extraordinary power or trait that sets them apart from the rest of the human race, but as we are nearly all slaves to the Hollywood machine that is about as far as it goes, they can usually fly and see through walls and lift cars as if they were toys,

as tempting as this was for me to be able to aspire too I was painfully aware that I was never going to fly without a plane wrapped round me and I am far to old to start trying pick up cars!

No I had to dig deeper into the question, for me (and it will inevitably be different for most people) a Superhuman had several traits, physical fitness, a caring selfless personality and financial freedom enough that they could live their life without the stress of money and enrich the lives through education and security of our children and loved ones, and it should be noted that at the beginning of this journey I tick none of the boxes.

More History

I realised sometime before my first catalysing event that I had to change my life but I did not look any further than the need for more money, what I didn’t realise was that I was looking for the wrong commodity, you see money in itself is pointless, money unspent is simply paper at most and a number on a screen at it’s least, if your figure is only double digits and you are unhappy then unless you change your environment that figure can become ten digits or more and you will still be unhappy.

I wandered from business idea to business idea with no direction and no idea of what I was looking to achieve as a result I gained nothing, sure I did get a better job but due to lack of purpose or goal I simply grew quickly into the increased income with no change in environment and thus stayed unhappy.

One observation that I did make at the time was that I never had any idea if what I was doing was getting me anywhere or not, progress through any scheme wasn’t quantifiable, I have now realised in retrospect that this was a direct result of having no end goal, ask yourself this, if you set off out of the house with no destination in mind how do you know how close you are? simple you don’t ! and I didn’t and so I wasted years just aimlessly existing and making no progress at all.

Time to Stop the waffle and make my point!

So I sat down and actually looked at my life, took stock of what was making me unhappy and used that to formulate my goals, they were as follows

  • Physical Fitness (I was hugely overweight)
  • Financial Security for me and my Family (we were broke)
  • Time with the people I love and for myself (I spent most of my time working for a pittance and trying out ideas to make a million)

The way I worked this out was to start at the top, what life would look like if I could wave a magic wand and change all that was wrong overnight, then slowly methodically working back from the top identifying what life needs to be before I can move onto the next stage, the process was long but I eventually had the issues in the brackets above, and the goals without brackets.

Now, there is no magic wand, no five minute montage to inspirational music, and here’s a real kicker nobody is going to help you (at least not for free)

So I encourage you to do the same, and before you start remember some key points to help you keep motivated along the way,

Concentrate on moving Forward

Anything in the past is in the past, this is true of any event that has gone before, agnostic of it being positive or negative we cannot turn back the clock we can and should only ever move forward, sometimes that will clearing up mistakes of the past, and that is perfectly fine, in fact the lack of courage to admit past mistakes is what holds a lot of us back, and of course facing the pain of whatever we need to do to fix the mistakes, I tell you something, it certainly kept me back for a lot of years.

You have not failed

A person can only be regarded as a failure if they do not get back up, on your journey, as in mine there will be things that do not go exactly as planned, that is life not a reflection of your effort, and it affects as us all, you have already begun to fight back by looking for an alternative to your current situation.

Don’t forget the cliche

You get out what you put in, it is old and far from original but it is true, 100 percent effort will give 100 percent return, careful though cos 1 percent effort will give 1 percent return, be vary wary of people offering quick fixes to all your problems.

Quick reminder

I am sharing my journey because I fell into every trap and went down nearly every rabbit hole before I learnt how to start putting my life back together, while I will never charge anybody directly for my musings through subscription or such, I do fully intend to make as much money as possible from advertising and affiliate schemes, and I completely encourage anybody to do the same.
