Holiday Challenge

In September we are going to Dubai for what amounts to a long weekend, now, I have lost a considerable amount of bodyfat since starting and along the way my research has taught me a lot about how the body works and how if we work in tune with it and support it during the changes we want to make we can achieve some truly amazing things, there are some challenges coming up in my life over the next six to twelve months that will restrict any travel we may have done so I would like to go out with a bang so as to speak on this trip at the end of the year, the aim is to get as close to having visible Abs and good muscle tone and definition as possible before we depart.

As a way to share what is possible and also to keep me on the straight and narrow ( I have found that an audience no matter how small tends to do this ) I will be documenting my progress weekly until we go, starting today ( I have always traditionally weighed myself on a Sunday for some reason ) and for the following 12 weeks.

Week weight
1 17st 13.2lbs

To achieve this I will be following my own routine that has been working for the past year with just a couple of minor tweaks as I have found that despite the internet message of “just go for it” practicalities have to be considered as well, and nearly falling asleep at work is not a good look, believe me!

So here is the program that I will be starting with initially.

  1. Weight Training – every other day, this has always worked for me and I see no reason to change it, it is easily sustainable as I have no issue with training first thing in the morning or last thing at night, I know some people are precious about when they train but in today’s world unless you are a paid fitness star, a professional athlete or just happen to be a millionaire you have to fit training in around work, no point being muscular and sleeping on a park bench.
  2. Yoga – on the opposite days to the Weight Training, this is to continue the work I did to get flexible and to improve my static strength, I find Yoga very productive and have continued to practice it sometimes just because of the mindset and distraction it provides from the chaos of the rat race.
  3. Diet – This will not change from the low Carb high Protein and fibre diet I converted to all those months ago, save for adding in casein protein at night time to assist my protein synthesis as I am now marching on in years.
  4. Coconut Oil – this seems to have worked wonders, I have been using it now first thing in the morning as my first intake of nutrition, remember that anecdotal research tended to suggest that this sets your body up to burn Fat for energy and provides focus, and I have been having the black coffee and Coconut Oil before going to the gym, I have noticed huge differences in focus, strength and endurance from following this.
  5. 5k a Day – this was the routine I started a few weeks ago and it has appeared to bear fruit, while away two weeks ago I put on 2lbs and this weigh in I have lost that and a further 4.8lbs this is good going in my book and probably right at the upper end of how much I want to lose a week, I certainly wouldn’t suggest that anybody try and lose more a week unless the medical benefits outweighed the possible drawbacks, I may however increase this to 7k as you need to adapt your exercise as the body becomes more capable.

And that really is it, any changes to the routine and I will outline why this has been done and what they are, and hopefully it will be “Abs for Dubai”

Get up not stay up

So many blogs and Instagram stories centre around working as much of the day as possible in order to maximise progress, but quite a large proportion of these are either written by immortals or they are so rich that they have robot stand-ins, constantly we see posts at 4:30 in the morning and then posts claiming that they are still up at 12 midnight, whilst I accept that this can be employed as a temporary strategy it has no validity in the long term, as you become tired you will start to lose cognitive ability, concentration and physical ability will start to fade and you will eventually end up in a heap on the floor.

At which point all your plans, workouts and learning stops while you recover, as the vast majority of us will be holding down full time jobs as well as whatever other activities we are pursuing it serves us better to go to sleep a bit earlier and wake up earlier, this way all you are missing is night time activities which are largely leisure activities, these are the things to sacrifice in pursuit of goals both physical and financial anything else is going to harm you and as I said will ultimately end in stopping your progress completely for at least a couple of days.

If you go to bed at 10:00pm and get up at 4:30am you still get 6 and a half hours sleep, only losing out on half an hour of recommended sleep and you have a good 3 hours to get your goal pursuits in be that training, learning or practicing guitar (quietly of course) most of us finish work at 5:30pm so you still have 4 and a half hours to either carry on working on the future or spending time with the family, that schedule will also fit a lot closer with children so as you and the children start to sync a bit in your rhythms you could even bring some more harmony to that relationship.

Remember all sacrifice is for nothing if you become to tired and ill to keep pushing.

Dealing with Despair

The mind is a funny thing and is far more complicated than we will ever know (at the very least in my lifetime) and occasionally it can seem to be working against us, plans that are carefully laid are doubted and things we decide are true and right are questioned, and this effect is further magnified the longer our plans take to come into fruition, one of the many problems with this is that it can distract us, suddenly we start looking for alternatives to the plans we have laid, and start re-examining facts and figures that previously we were sure of.

Dealing with this is tricky, we must learn to understand the difference between doubt and intuition, many times in your life so far you will have felt that something is either good or bad in an instant, it is that innate ability that we all have, however it’s brutal honest nature often gets it ignored in favour of a path that is more to our liking, I personally have a fascination with intuition, precognition and the undeveloped abilities of the mind in general, but I will expand that later.

Doubt on the other hand tends to be the re-evaluation of known facts in the absence of any additional information, we let our minds wander in quiet times and inevitably you will start to concentrate on subjects that are of paramount importance.

The only way to deal with this is to actively fight against it and remember to do this with some considerable effort, years can be wasted allowing negative thoughts and emotions to slow us down stop us from progressing.

As a quick example of how I have learnt to deal with the darker moments, have a look at the three points below.

What am I worried about?

What are you worried about, I mean that literally, stop and ask yourself, “So what is the problem?” and list (on paper if it is easier for you to visualise) what exactly it is that is worrying you, this can be anything and you can be brutally honest with yourself at this point, no matter how you think your fears would be received by anybody else write them down, the only person reading it will be you.

Evaluate your worries

With that done to be honest you may feel slightly worse, that would be a normal response to a sudden listing of everything that is worrying us, but this is where you have to really fight, and fight as if your life depends on it, because allowing these negative internal influences can literally rob you of portions of your life, and that isn’t right even if it is you that’s doing it,

Look at each one and consider it carefully, what are the chances of it happening? what would the outcome be if it did happen? is there any mitigating action that can be taken? and one I personally use, is this happening right now? if not you can relax instantly because if it is not happening now then you have time to prepare and be ready for it even if the answers to the first questions aren’t ideal.

Crowd out the negative with positive

Now start to focus on the answers to your worries as identified by you, these are the positive actions you can take that make the worries that are plaguing you worthless, concentrating on these you can see that as each worry or problem is negated it will just diminish until it no longer exists, in fact as an exercise it may well be that the additional focus on the answers to the worries/problems actually brings stronger and more productive answers allowing you to solve problems quicker.

Depression

Depression is a serious matter however and if you start to feel that no matter what you do to cope you just can’t lift yourself out of this spiral, you should contact one of the various organisations that are there to help, starting with your GP / Doctor, we all deserve the best chance at life but unfortunately society can be cruel, peer groups, governments and their agencies, finance companies, social media can and will all take their toll, and for the most part the people involved don’t even give enough thought to their victims to consider the impact of their actions, so at least it is not personal, what you have to do is reach out to the other side of society, there is many good people around that want to help, some for money sure, but others literally because they want to help, if you ask they will answer, don’t let yourself become another statistic of the system.

Practice the Preaching ep15

Good Morning! The weekend is finally here (apologies if you still have a Friday to get through) and it has been a good week, nearly finished my second book, in the “Read a book a week” ideal, and it has only taken me 3 weeks! the book is “The Subtle art of not giving a F**K” and I will put my review on when it is finished.

Scales reading of 18st 4.8lb

So just under 3lbs lost in a week, well from Monday, so I guess technically 5 days. Very happy

So what was it that worked? well I would be inclined to say the Intermittent fasting was the main culprit here, although I haven’t actually changed how I am eating, as I made the conscious decision to alter my diet rather than going on one and as I have said previously the diet I followed is the Slimming World Food Optimisation Plan, and that has been working very well, Coconut Oil was introduced very late in the week so I think the jury should still be out on that, what we can get from this though is a few things.

  1. You are never too old (within reason probably best not to start at 99!)
  2. You have never gone too far that there is a justification for giving up, in fact the further down the line you go it is arguable that the alterations needed to illicit change become smaller
  3. This is something that requires a multi-angle approach fortunately the world is literally awash with books/classes/groups/blogs on how to get started
  4. And of course don’t forget my blog (plug plug)

Have a day with the family today so really looking forward to it, and I will be putting together a page on the Fat Burner I also tried recently and my evaluation of whether that particular one was worth it.

So whatever you are doing, do it to the MAX remember you can accomplish anything (except unaided space flight) and you if you give it 100% you never truly fail you just learn what doesn’t work so well…..

I had a setback today, or at least it felt like one, despite not going outside my diet and following my exercise schedule to the letter (very nearly) I had only a 1.4lb loss when weigh in day came round this morning.

To some that would seem perfectly acceptable but I have been striving for more of a loss as I am still at the stage where no matter how much effort I put in at the gym I will not put enough muscle on during a week to cancel out any substantial proportion of fat loss,

If I do however find the magic bullet for fat loss I will share it with you all right after I share it with the copyright office!

Now the reason for the long story about how I was gutted at my weight loss is actually to lead into an example of how much I have changed since taking my health and well being seriously, prior to this the response to this morning would have been to have a day off doing any activities “To re-centre myself” then promise that when I begin again tomorrow I will work harder, now I see these events as triggers rather than failures, and anything that doesn’t have the desired result in your journey should do the same.

Failure (noun)

A failure has happened, it is an event from which there is no recovery, it is a noun and it has no part in anybodies vocabulary when talking about their life, or life goals, once uttered the event that gets labelled as a failure acts as a wall, a barrier between you on one side and what you were looking to achieve on the other, if you are lucky you can push through the wall should a random act provide a resolution to the failure, but you don’t want to trust your life and happiness to luck now do you ?

Trigger (verb)

In contrast a trigger is a reaction to an event that might not have played out as you expected, it is the response to a situation good or bad, and it forces us to react, in this respect it is a continuation to a destination even if the path has changed, it is not stopping, there is no lack of momentum or stalling of drive and purpose, you have a situation or result and that triggers you to shape your actions to either avoid the current situation and change it or to move further along the same path but with more or less effort depending on the reaction required.

Response

Well your response is your response and it will be a reaction to whatever events you are evaluating, but in order to qualify that I am not simply trying to think up inspirational stories for followers and page views, I will explain my response to this trigger, I started to react predictably with some negative internal dialogue along the lines of, “this is it I have lost as much as I am going to” and “well bit of a setback I will have a day off and change something for next week” but this did not last, I reminded myself that I have had that conversation many times and it has never improved my life, ever, it is solely responsible for the state I found myself in leading to having to ask a shop assistant if they had any jeans bigger than a 56 inch waist,

Instead I looked at the result, and evaluated the parameters, effort in Vs results out, and in this case there had been some return but just not enough, so my response to this trigger ?, instead of walking 5k this morning I walked 7.89 and it took me 1hr 21min, when I got back to the house everything was hurting but I felt good, and the feeling wasn’t just physical, there is a huge mental boost to having a disappointment and answering that not by shrinking away but by literally expanding to be bigger than it and steam-rolling over it.

My opinion is that there are always going to be events in our lives that will floor us, and I mean all the inspirational memes and pep talks and jumping up and down clapping will have no effect at all, fortunately these are usually very very few and far between, the vast majority of events that we deal with are not like that, although it may seem like it at first, normally if you stop and look around you and the world looks the same as it did a minute previously you are all good.

Little Superhuman update

When I set out with this part of the goal was to secure financial freedom as well, and I am currently working on an article about that very thing, but I have got to make just this one comment before that really to justify why it hasn’t been touched on before, so far I have spent on average 6 hours a week looking at different schemes and businesses online, and while I believe 100% that there is gold them wires, the process to extract is NEVER as easy as 99.99999% of these advertisers claim, as harsh as that is the vast majority of these “millionaires” that are going to share their secrets with you for free are either some douche recruiting affiliates to funnel people into a scheme that recruits affiliates into a scheme that sells the scheme, remnants of these schemes either still be flogged by desperate 100th level recruits trying to wring the last nuts out of the thing or simply videos and single landing pages put up and waiting for their hosting money or view credits for “live webinars” to run out before going all 404 on everyone and at worst just straight out scams, but I am looking at real plans for real people to change their financial position and future, I have many issues that we discuss at length with the current global financial suppression of humans, where we are taught from an early age that we need a job and a mortgage that we can pay off before we retire so we don’t owe any money when we die, apparently this means we have won and we have been good citizens, the reality however, is that if I work when I want and I own a house with no mortgage, follow the pursuits in life that make me happy and can facilitate the same fate for my children, then I have won.

Honestly I am not some crazed revolutionist that believes in world without law and responsibility, that would be chaos and very very dangerous, as I have said before I am a humanist and I believe in humans being able to live their lives free from oppression and conscripted debt.

I will Make you a Millionaire

Not overnight (unless you pay me)

Sound Familiar ? Thought so, how many webinars have you been through that are available for a Limited Time Only ? All free of course, all just trying to give you access to a system that will make you millions in revenue each year with very little effort once the initial hard work is done, and Boy oh Boy! you will have to work hard, really hard in fact so hard that the program is not suitable for everybody and most of the people watching the video right now will struggle.

Two very important Points about me.

  1. I am a humanist, I didn’t even know I was one really till I started this blog, you see not only have I been where you are now, I am where you are, both with my physical fitness/appearance and financially, I will not go into what I do for a job but suffice to say it pays just enough for me to know what it must be like to have money without actually having it (Mega Lolz), so as I have wandered further into the world of affiliates and online business Guru’s, Million and Billionaires I have become disheartened, cynical and to be honest a little angry.
  2. I was a sucker, plain and simple and I have looked at this before, some years ago now (25 but who is counting) I looked at several online get rich schemes and had my fingers burnt every time, to qualify this further I will recount one of the times below.

One of the biggest growth industries on the internet

Online casinos were becoming a “thing” as more and more people were prepared to trust their hard-earned to a website, and I along with a lot of others were ready and poised to take advantage of this most lucrative leisure activity, this, however was the time before Drag’n Drop websites and anybody who had even a basic knowledge of Microsoft Frontpage, and an easy relationship with the truth had the jump on all of us, I invested with such a company, the total investment at the time was £100 and I won’t go to much into it but that was a lot of money to me then, and got my page to promote, it was a black page with six Casino Banners on it all with my very own tracking code, the program even came with an easy to follow step by step guide to success that if followed would mean that fortunes would come my way with no effort, one of the pearls of wisdom was FFA pages or ‘Free For All’ and so I diligently used my software to post to these every hour like the manual said, little knowing that links on these things expired in about ten seconds, needless to say I made nothing from Casino Traffic, but I did make some money through the referral program, £50 to be precise, which was really odd as I was not doing anything to promote the referral program as I was chasing the Millions from gamblers, it is not difficult to see what occurred here is it? the guy took the £100 and waited a few weeks and paid back £50, and this, no doubt would have been covered by signing me up to each casino as an affiliate through his link.

Things are different now though right?

No, except the amount of money invested has grown exponentially and the ability of the protagonists to display a picture of wealth has increased ten fold, now, I do not “call people out” there are enough people doing this all over the internet and frankly I have no time for it, my “About” section sets out my intentions very clearly, I intend to investigate the Gurus and self-help masters of the internet and advertise the living S**t! out of everything I can in the mean time, my best case scenario would be a viral blog with a million ad impressions a week and providing help and guidance to every one for free while paying for me to live me particular dream.

We all want to make money, at least those who typed financial keywords in to find the blog or who are running a similar blog, and from what I have seen over the last two days of research the vast majority of these ‘systems’ are nothing more than a global MLM with the main product being to participate in a global MLM, and that is just swell, if you are at the top, the rest I found are simply people pushing tired half-baked ideas to an audience that are trying desperately to change their standing in life and that of their families, and so are open to listening to even the craziest of tired ideas, one I found was basically an online phone book of local businesses (I am sure the internet has already catered for this) with the main strategy being that a person would advertise the service with a phone number that forwards the call to the original business with a message that oddly does not read, “hi we hi-jacked a customer enquiry for you and in the process of being re-directed probably scared them off”, this course was free, but on the off chance you struggled with the vague concept, continued questions of the value and repeated reference to the Bahamas (why are they always working from a beach in the Bahamas ?) then you could pay an undisclosed sum for private mentoring.

Simple Potential

The potential to make millions is simple mathematics and is not in any way easy to discount, there are 4.39 billion active users on the internet, if you managed to get just one dollar from .5% of them just once you would have 21,950,000 and that is you done my friend, now that isn’t going to happen but you are many decimal points down before it begins to be something that is not worth doing, after I have no doubt at all that if somebody gave you a riddle to solve and you were guaranteed a million for solving it you and me would be working on that day and night, let alone 21 million! and anybody who says they have a way of solving the riddle you would reward handsomely, and that is exactly what this is, it is a riddle and once the riddle is solved and you find the formula you will make the money, there is no surer thing, but so far all I have seen is people prepared to charge me simply to recite the riddle nothing more.

So we should just give up?

Hell no! never in a million years, as I have said before you and me and everybody else chasing this are fighting for our lives back from a system designed to keep us down and struggling for money, society is set up that way very carefully and meticulously peaking our desire just beyond our reach and then offering us a lifeline in the form of finance, and as soon as you have that you are caught because you find that bit harder to get ahead as your monthly wage gets eaten up by the spending of the rich and powerful on a paupers budget, no moral high ground here I am exactly the same.

OK So what now ?

Fight harder then ever before, stop watching the endless videos on how to make three hundred billion before you go to bed tonight, and realise (as I did) that every cyclical webinar that is for a limited time only is 30 minutes to an hour that you could have been spending creating something of value or working out the best way to start an advertising campaign, or simply getting some sleep so you can better function at work in order to get the money together to start buying your freedom from the government machine.

As always I would love to hear comments or spark a debate below, but most of all know that I am not jumping ship there is freedom to be found in the world wide web, and I want us all to find it, believe me there is more than enough to go round!

Practice the Preaching ep7

Morning All! , I have had a bit of a milestone this morning and I would like to share, my training has up until now been a little, shall we say “instinctive” by which of course, I mean that I pretty much did what I felt like doing, with a few things that were a constant, but the problem with that is that is is difficult to measure progress without any baseline to compare against, so I began running/jogging/fast walk, as alluded to in a previous episode, and today I reached what is seen (I think) as a bit of a Milestone target of 5k, now before I share my stats don’t get too excited as they need improvement but I managed it in 41mins 48seconds at an average pace of 8:05/km (according to Strava), I then figured a good accompaniment to this would be some stretching so followed a 20 min yoga stretching routine from PsycheTruth on YouTube.

One thing this journey has done so far is improve my confidence in all the paths of my life and I am shocked at the elevated mood that you get after running so will be keeping it up, I will be able to try some natural methods of increasing aerobic capacity and report on my findings there as well now, see if I can prove/disprove some myths or hidden wisdom often circulated around the NET.

So to anybody reading this (and I pray there is at least two!) have an awesome day and just like me this morning puffing, looking a little pale and wanting to be sick try and break into a metaphorical jog as often as you can and sit down tonight having achieved everything you set out to do today.

P.S or physical jog if you happen to be out for some exercise.

Do Real things for Real results

So up for a run this morning and it made me think a couple of things, one the world is a beautiful place and I can’t believe sometimes how much we humans have been known to take it for granted, and two just how much harder running in real life is compared to a session on the treadmill.

Yesterday at the gym I did 45 minutes running at 7.5km/h at an incline of 7, I burned (according to the probably highly inaccurate) calories counter just over 500 calories, and afterwards I had a minute to calm down and then I happily wandered to my car to pick up my daughter from her club she attends.

Today, I ran 2.5Km at a pace of 8km/h and burned 375 calories in 21 minutes (according to strava, I am not sure about the accuracy of their metric either but that works on the same information I fed into the treadmill) and the really awkward truth about this is that in all activities, making money, bodybuilding, getting fit, and I can now add running to that list in bold and underlined, we get better results if we don’t look for the easy path in, sure you should always consult a doctor and make sure you are healthy enough to push yourself, the goal here is to live long and healthy and if possible not to die trying, but a real walk in the real world will always beat a slow jog on a treadmill, free weights are always better than machines and coming up with a method to make money is always better than trying mimic somebody who has already made it, use these easier methods to educate you and help you up to the first steps but always think and feel for yourself.

And smash it every single day.

Feeling Strong ?

Self-help and motivation has become very dear to my heart in recent years and I personally find it comforting that there a lot of people out there that do genuinely want to help, from the big names that fill auditoriums to the YouTube warriors that post incessantly, some with good intentions and morals and some with questionable motives largely found reciting industry standard rhetoric to a backdrop of a couple of piles of cash and some royalty free inspirational music, no names are required as we all have experienced these differing styles and their respective protagonists I imagine many times over.

Something happened to me specifically today, I had a moment of fear, a moment when the slow pace of progress closes round you like a cold encompassing blanket and seems to choke the energy right out of you, where all the carefully thought out plans and schemes suddenly seem unobtainable and you freeze unable to see a way forward.

Fear hits us all, I don’t care who or where you are, male or female, young or old, it is how we deal with it that counts and it is how we deal with it that will determine the pace at which you achieve your goals and in some cases if you ever do.

I have read a couple of books that are starting to suggest that we should maybe try and look for the good in what we have and not try to attain anything more, while this leaves me conflicted I do think it is a flawed and potentially harmful message, I mean people look to these places and people for inspiration and motivation, only to be told to not try to hard and look at the prospect of just being content with what you have, it must be a huge disappointment and for some difficult to recover from.

So here is a little mid-week motivation and each word is not only from my heart but it is fresh in my mind as I have gone through those emotions just today.

Feel strong, don’t question it just feel it look out into the open and just feel strong, remember that unless whatever is your main focus of concern is stood right in front of you with inevitable consequence, you have the opportunity to re-route your path, Think Slow Act Fast easy to say not easy to do when fear grips at your heart strings then climbs like an icicle up through your brain clouding your thoughts and play hide and seek with your emotion, but again stop and look around, things are almost always exactly the same as they were the moment before your fear went into overdrive, so whatever you do slow down your thoughts be methodical and then put those thoughts into action with the speed precision and purpose that only a razor sharp plan of action can command. Smash 100 percent everyday and in every action if you think slow forget fear and push your thoughts through to action with every ounce of strength you have you will move forward there is no two ways about it believe in your self and you are 80 percent there.

There is nothing wrong with being happy with the way things are, we are all searching for happiness and if you find it in getting by then that is genuinely awesome, however if that were the case I doubt you would be reading this blog.

Celebrate your husbands/wives/children and cherish them for what they are, your strength, motivation, the rock to cling to during a storm and the precious cargo you must protect as you set sail to a sunnier, happier less stressful land.

Everything else is just leverage.

Maximum Effort

One of the things that held me back and I can see holding friends and colleagues back is the effort required to effect change, the world today is an on-demand environment where we have become accustomed to ordering now and receiving now or within a couple of days at most, unfortunately that is not how life works, change takes time and patience and that is where the majority of us fall down because we change an aspect of our lives and when that change has not had the desired outcome in a week we start looking around for something more effective or at worst simply stop and give up on our dream or goal, often reasoning that the people who have what we want were lucky or had some advantage.

What we don’t see is that these people may have been working at whatever it is for years, I wanted to share a couple of tips that I used to manipulate my inner narrative and make progress.

Change of Vocabulary

All too often I used the phrase “I am going to try” or “hopefully this will work”, to try something I reasoned was to accept that it might fail, also because you are only trying something you don’t give it maximum effort because you are not invested in it’s outcome, similarly this goes for hopefully while hope is not a negative emotion by any means it isn’t committed it is not absolute and so if it fails it is not such a monumental event.

I spent a long time trying to get back to the gym, trying to get my studying done and trying to stick to a diet, and guess what I wasted years trying, to be honest it was my lovely wife (the woman in the pictures that accompany some of my posts) that inadvertently changed my outlook on it, she joined slimming world and instead of saying I will try and support you by eating the same and following the plan, I simply said that I will support you by following the plan, to date I have lost six and a half stone, this has taken ten months and has led to me being back at the gym and moving toward being in the best shape of my life.

So I began with replacing trying with doing, hope with make it happen and instead of going on a diet, changing my diet, use words that provide a positive course of action as opposed to leaving the outcome to an outside force.

Believe in yourself

Dead easy to say, not so easy to do, and to be fair I more mean trust yourself, I spent so long questioning myself and my abilities that I managed to scare myself into not taking any action at all, if you think about it I imagine that you, like me juggle a million and one things each day just to keep ticking over and maintain the status quo, and we do this without thinking and without questioning if we are able, because we have to do it, my suggestion and what I have been doing is changing my perception of the status quo, accepting and realising the uncomfortable nature of stagnation and staying where I am and using that to move from “I need to change my life” to “I am changing my life because I have to” having to do something, I mean truly having to do something allows us to trust that no matter what the outcome we will do our best and work as hard as we need to, after all if you can’t trust yourself who can you trust?

End each day with an evaluation

Change as I said is slow, it takes time and effort and can be painful especially when playing against our need for instant gratification, it is all too easy to think that you are not getting anywhere or you are not learning a subject because you are not at your end goal, I realised that knowledge and progress compound, they build on what went before, so if your aim is to, say, learn to build a website and yesterday you knew nothing about it but today you know how to structure the HTML to create a page then that is progress and it should be viewed as such, this also follows with nearly everything else we do in our lives, if we want to lose weight and get in shape, each cardio session or each rep moves us further to that goal and it will become easier the more we progress, the brain and body are amazing at adapting to anything we choose to do to, help yourself as I did by allowing it the time to do so, so I now end each day by thinking about my goals and what I have done to move closer to them, being honest some days it is nothing, not a thing and others it is the tiniest shift, and then there are days that all the effort compounds and I move over a mile stone.

The important thing to remember is that if you are not happy with where you are, as I wasn’t it will not change without you doing something different and that takes effort, so if you are putting the effort in then you think it is a worthwhile cause, and if it is worthwhile then it is worth maximum effort, I have stopped attempting multi-tasking and compartmentalised my activities based on the goal I am pursuing and then put everything I have into it, and it is really paying off.
