Awesome article about increasing longevity through physical exercise, not a new message obviously but a good reminder.
Hiring criteria changes about as often as the poles, but even employers are recognising that the ability to think slow and reasoned even when under pressure makes for a better employee, and if you can master it will help you in your own financial and health journey too, never beat yourself up over things, always listen to constructive criticism and help others where you can.
So you are working 9 to 5 and you are coming in and spending time with the laptop trying desperately to break the endless cycle of work and struggle, but you, like countless others are still are banging your head against a wall that you cannot see, I know because I have been there and for that matter still am.
In an earlier post I shared the revelation that in order to make money you need money, this is not a huge revelation and I am not trying to get more likes simply by repeating it, rather it need repeating because it is true, you see there is a single global truth about success, if you understand something then you will be successful at it, it is really that easy, sure the occasional person may get lucky and just hit upon a winning idea, but these are quickly surpassed by others who study the early success and formulate a repeatable formula to not only re-create the success but to grow on it and leave the “lucky” ones in the dust.
If you spend enough time searching for making money online, you will find that you literally cannot watch a YouTube video or go onto a website without and AD being run by some desperate entrepreneur trying to hook you into the latest system with this weeks free seminar, here’s the kicker, it’s shit, all of it, and it is wasting your time and mine, they haven’t got the answer which is why they are pushing the same “online live webinars” as everybody else and promising the earth with that identical desperate look in their eye.
but still for the majority of us we have a look and then 2hrs later we realise the whole thing is the same pointless pitch with the upsell at the end for several thousand dollars in some cases and mere hundreds in others, but what I will ask is what if? what if you took that thousand dollars and paid off some of your credit cards, the reduced balance would mean more money in your account each month and more money in your account means more money to pay off debt, it is a vocabulary thing, really it is, when we hear people like Robert Kyosaki talking about using debt to make money he is talking about hundreds of thousands of dollars of mortgage debt paying him a huge dividend at the end of each month as the difference is calculated between the repayments and the rental income.
But for us the hundreds of pounds/dollars each month on repayments that in the main are just paying off the interest is what is keeping us poor and it will never be any different.
Somebody once asked Warren Buffet why if his system worked so well that not everybody followed it, his reply was simple “because nobody wants to get rich slow” and he is right, because every time we turn on the laptop we are bombarded with these jerks selling us exactly that, and it does not exist but taking a long time is not as long as you might think, even on a modest wage if you removed all the outgoings to credit, and I mean Credit Cards, Auto Finance, that huge 50 inch TV pulling your chimney breast down and those 10 days in the sun your boss graciously lets you have once a year, you would soon have enough money to start investing in a way, it may not be the largest way, but a way.
So you need to stop listening to the $200 a day from Google shit, or the $500 dollars a week from simply typing, because it is literally that, your viewing time and clicks are just feeding people as skint as you as they try desperately to find a way to get a video to go viral, or hook enough people into their upsell, stop doing it, instead learn from experts in their field, spend time watching videos on investing, or property development, seek out millionaires or billionaires doing exactly that look for educational development so that when you have the money to invest you understand what it is you are investing in and don’t lose all that hard work, unfollow dreamers and scammers, bloody dropshipping courses that stopped being profitable years ago because now everybody has a shopify store, and nobody wants to wait 6 weeks for delivery from China on a sub-standard product, don’t go down the affiliate route and start picking items to promote on Clickbank, learn a skill and write an ebook and get affiliate marketers to sell it for you on Clickbank, think about it what makes more sense, weeks and weeks competing with people to sell one lousy product and earn a tenner, or write an ebook or course about something you know and get an army of hungry affiliates to sell it for you ?
You, like me owe yourself at least this much, stop trawling through Instagram for inspiration, if you have been there once then you have inspiration enough, stop looking on YouTube for another business idea because the one you tried was either useless or didn’t work in a week so you gave up, literally turn 6 months of your life over to hardship and struggle to put yourself in a stronger financial position and a better mental state with a more thorough understanding of your chosen path, and then hit the internet with your ideas, get affiliates selling your courses, or make your millions investing with your patterns or your system the world is big enough for us all to make fortunes, but sometimes you have stop running in the dark, leaping from idea to idea and pushing other peoples ideas and property, and realise in the world of affiliate marketing the only ones truly getting rich are the content creators.
As always please leave a comment if you have one and I hope that you have every success with whatever path you take, till next time…….
All the talk is about investing in business and making money but, all the money in the world is not going to be worth a single cent if you don’t take care of yourself, can’t take it with you! as they say, one of the big problems today as I have said on many occasions is that we are always rushing from one thing to another, hoping that our internal batteries will stay charged just long enough till we can make the next deal or lose the next 5lbs or we can work hard enough to just get this next certification, but what happens if it doesn’t ? well you fail not because you could not achieve the goal that you set for yourself but simply because you ran out of steam, and that is a bitter pill to swallow, believe me.
Imagine running a race, you have kept good pace and you have beaten off your rivals, the air is clear and you are feeling good, turning a corner you see the finish line but as you do your leg starts to cramp, it passes up through your body and you start to slow under the pain, but you still see the finish line and it is getting closer, so you push harder the pain gets worse and you drop to your knees, the line stops moving and you see your rivals come past and break that tape, of all the feelings that are running through your head at that time one will be that you will not let this happen again you will go away and train harder, sleep more and learn how to make your body go faster and longer, spurred on by the biting pain of regret you vow this how it will be.
As dark as that analogy was I would be prepared to bet that most of the people in that situation would then go on to smash the next race, but life unfortunately (until proven wrong) is not like that we have one shot at it and once we hit the floor near the finish line there is no more tomorrow, an no more races to make a comeback, so follow these three investments in yourself and take action now so that the last thing you think as you cross the line is “I Won!”
Maybe not 8hrs a night as some people literally feel worse after sleeping so long, but find the right amount of sleep for you and stick to it where you can, the odd late night / early morning here and there are fine and you shouldn’t sweat it but consistent burning the candle at both ends, NO, a rested body and mind is a prepared body and mind, and when you are prepared you become more confidence, confidence + preparedness = success, there is nothing that you are not ready for and when it is thrown you can deal with it as you are switched on and “Present in the Moment”
You are what you eat, not strictly true but we all know what it is like to have a massive Carb filled meal and then try to go back to work in the afternoon or get a little more done at night when you just want to sleep, invest some time in yourself by learning about your body, what body type are you? are you sensitive to Caffeine ? is that latest fab diet the reason why you don’t sleep at night and your cognitive function is on the floor, investment in yourself is either free or the price of a couple of good books on the subject, learn to optimise your body and everybody will thank you for it, you will be happier more confident and have more energy.
You don’t have to go to the gym and spend a fortune on Protein Shakes and supplements to get fit, There are plenty of good videos on Yoga, bodyweight exercises you can do at home, or make up your own, again the investment is reading blogs such as this one, or the world of information that is at you fingertips in the form of the Internet (I am sure you have heard of it), if you haven’t got time then wake up 30 mins earlier or carry workout clothes with you in the car, that 45 minute break that you would normally fill reading something like this or getting lost in YouTube spiral, making mountains of money for people that produce gaming videos and the like invest in yourself, go for a walk or some sprints, you will feel better for it.
Don’t expect huge differences overnight changing habits and body adaptation takes time but it is worth it, and the evidence is all around us, from the hugely overweight that start a diet and a week in to it still look the same to the skinny kid who gets laughed at at the gym until one day he steps on the Olympia stage, all the way to the guy that spends little money and studies investments without the credit fuelled frivolities of his peers, seems broke until he buys a huge house outright and starts travelling the world without having to ask for the time off from work, but you have to start, not tomorrow, NOW right NOW, literally changes like the above you can start right this second by deciding to go for a walk, or not have junk food at lunch, maybe get a book and sit down and work out why every diet you try does not give results. the best investment you can make is in yourself and it’s the only one that will add years to your life!
Possibly not the update that anybody was expecting, but life has a funny way of telling you things, small signs here and there that the direction you are taking is not the best path, I have spent some considerable time now with the Affiliate Marketing and the initial idea, which was to use paid for Facebook ads to promote a product and use Clickbank to get paid for doing so.
Things to consider when starting
- This is not going to be for free, Websites, YouTube videos and Guru’s sometimes try to push this message and it is fundamentally wrong, this business requires just one ingredient Traffic and this traffic needs to have some value, as in it needs to be directed, simply throwing 1000 unqualified leads at a landing page is highly unlikely to get any result, and traffic costs my friend, either in your time to build up a following on social media or in cash to by advertisements.
- The second thing is really an extension of the first point and was ultimately my undoing at this time, you will still need Time and quite a measurable amount too, think about it, you have to create landing pages, creatives and static ads (these can be done for free) and then place them and monitor the spending, as a side note you will notice that the majority of the success stories start with the phrase “I lost my Job” or “when I was eighteen” or some such other narrative that when you scratch beneath the surface implies that they started with a lot of time on their hands.
- Nearly all of the videos on YouTube are only half of the story, and in fact I would say it’s not even half more like one quarter, I promise that the curse of the blank page is nothing compared to staring at a video ad looping over and over and not knowing how to make it feel right and professional, and hiring somebody to do it is more money.
One of the conclusions I came to was this, the vast majority of the affiliate programs are centred around selling more affiliate training programs, I actually have a moral issue with this as it adds no value to peoples lives, These are nothing more than pyramid schemes in my opinion and ultimately although they can make money for some they do not for the vast majority of people involved.
I am not saying that affiliate programs are not viable in any way, I have links on this website to books that if anybody bought through me I would receive money, it would not make me rich but it would be earned simply as a by-product of something I enjoy doing, and as the reach of the website increases the scope for more people to see the links and click them also increases, this provides potential return on one time effort, and this is probably as close to Passive Income as it is possible to get.
In summary I feel it only right to say that the path to affiliate marketing that I started to take is best described as cynical, it would have worked with a larger budget and a smaller moral stance, quick money can be made this is true, but quick money is Small money, along the way I have spent time listening to giants of business and investing and a lot of their words have rung true with me, I understand the need for a side hustle if you have a day job as this is the only way to start on the road to financial freedom as all too often we start looking for money when we have grown out of our current income, and I also understand and would happily advise anybody that has the time and the freedom to dedicate every waking moment to affiliate marketing should do so, success stories are not always a tissue of lies to extract your hard earned money, a good amount of the time they are true and a reflection of what that person managed to achieve with their particular circumstances, just remember that their circumstances are NOT yours and you need to evaluate carefully what you can sacrifice in order to reach your goal, I am going to move toward the side hustle and will happily share any successes I have with you all on here, as well as getting on with the other side of the traineesuperhuman, the fitness and life motivation.
Till next time, run as fast as you can but make sure you have the right road!
I am not normally a follower of Warren Buffet because his strategies are almost all long term but, I feel that the message in this is valuable for all.
Tuesday today and I wonder how did your Monday go? did you get up and recite a mantra about how you can succeed or did you go for a swim around your private island followed by a nutritional breakfast?
I ask these questions because I was watching a video about morning rituals last night and it got me thinking, when we watch self-help videos or we search for ways to change our lives we are essentially looking for help, help to understand what we are doing wrong, why we are not millionaires, and how can we change this, and YouTube and Instagram come to the rescue, but only some of the content of these messages is worthwhile, not because the content producer is malicious but simply because they have risen to a point that they can no longer relate to the issues and problems when they started out.
One of the points that was made was with regard to Barack Obama’s morning routine, and how he always does a 45 minute workout, he will, reportedly not entertain anything until this is played out and this makes him a better president (this was at the time he was president of course) the point was that no matter how busy our lives are we are not as busy as the president of the united states, however I take issue with this because time is a constant regardless of who you are or how much money you have, to say that one person has less time than another due to their status is wrong we all have 24hrs in a day, so if you need to take care of two children or take the dog for a walk this takes your time, and does not allow you to lay down and enjoy a coffee enema.
This is only a quick post but I want you to think of this, when you look at these things understand that you do not need to follow the advice to the letter, and as I want to make money from advertising on my blog and my blog is about helping people, there is at least one person out there that is rooting for you, me!
So if yesterday you meant to start the week all positive and go out for a run before eating half a grapefruit and swallowing a handful of herbal medication, then setting off to work with a smile on your face, but when you got up the Kids weren’t feeling well, the dog had shat in the kitchen and you ended up running late eating toast as usual and driving to work wondering if you left the iron on, don’t throw away the rest of the week, today is Tuesday, if your Monday sucked ass, try again today, you can do that can’t you ?
Hey, following on from this weekends posts about Mondays and how we feel about them, just remember to be present in the moment and not to dwell on the past, you cannot change any mistakes you made or undo any bad decisions, but you can work harder on better decisions and take the opportunity of a new week to get closer to your goals.
First forget the adage “life begins at 40” it doesn’t, it never has and guess what friend ? it never will, life begins at 0 and ends when it ends, and what you do in the mean time is up to you, and if you are anything like the majority of us you probably reached 40 and were pissed off, life hadn’t cut you the breaks that it had others, and you have no savings, a shit car and a rented house, if this sounds like you read on, if not, well done you made it!
Every video you watch on YouTube, and every goddamn influencer or affiliate marketer gives you the same advice, over and over, work hard and get out the sum of what you put in multiplied by the length of time you apply the effort, usually delivered by some 30 year old that started when they were in their 20’s with just a dream and a laptop, I myself have been a proponent of the effort in = results out and for physical fitness and condition it holds true to a certain extent, but financial success? no I am not convinced that it does, you see all of these people are selling you something, they are selling you the promise of a life you could have had if only you had started earlier, and here is the real kicker, You cannot start earlier, I cannot go back to College and study computer networking and security to further my career now, I cannot go back to when Bitcoin was worth less than a cent, and buy a thousand dollars worth only to sit on it for ten years and sell at 16k per coin, and I cannot start working 20 hrs a day sleeping in my office while my website churns money during the day and working on it at night, why? because I have a family, I have a job and I have responsibilities that I take seriously, and like so many others that means time, time that I cannot be working on an internet business, so on the face of it there appears to be no hope and no way out of where you and indeed I are, but this becomes a self fulfilling prophesy in many ways because if we sit and think that there is no chance, no way that we can make any changes then we won’t, why? because we are sat on our arses spending time thinking about how we can’t make it, how the chips are stacked against us and how life is over at 40 not beginning.
The big names we already know, people I have referred to such as Jordan Belfort, and others that I have been looking at recently such as Stefan James, had a few things in common when they started, the first of which is youth, and before we look any further we stop because it is the one thing that we haven’t got any more right? it is the one blocker that no matter how hard we try we cannot ever get round (at least in this dimension) and so we forget the whole thing, and rather than go on and look we sit and rest easy that although life is hard there is nothing we can do about it so it is not our fault so we are miserable but ultimately off the hook, and perhaps even have a quick scroll through Instagram and look at the people that have either made it or are faking it.
But wait, what about the other things these people had in common? such as drive, clarity of vision, determination, intelligence, self education, opportunity and ability to push forward with a complete belief in what they were doing, self-purpose is more than just something that can make a difference to our outcomes in life it is the thing that does make the difference, when you see these people talking now they are positive, upbeat determined, their messages are delivered with an authority because they know it to be true and not because they are trying desperately to find the right words to inspire you to hit like, their message is clear and if you watch over a period of time you will find that it really does not ever change.
I watched a video interview with Grant Cardone, the interviewer was asking the same boring questions about his money and what advice would he give to his 21 year old self, the one thing he said that stuck with me is that you have to pick one voice/personality and stick with them, there is too much information to follow everybody and cover all your bases by taking on all their messages, think about it like a roulette table, if you covered every conceivable bet you would technically win, but if you think about it you would still not be any better off as the cost of doing that would out weigh the returns from the winning bets, problem is the “chips” in this case is our time, and there isn’t enough of it.
The answer is to invest, invest in yourself through knowledge and direction, pick one thing you think has possibilities for you and research it to exhaustion, invest time in checking into peoples stories, google names if you can find information that backs up what they say, and I do not mean a load of video testimonials and if you do look at video testimonials then look at them closely, I always laugh when you see this guy or gal that has discovered this system that now makes them 20k a week while they are sitting on a beach in the Bahamas, but they chose to do the testimonial from their mums house on the day when she is gathering up the washing!
So pick one, Affiliate marketing, Self publishing, Drop Shipping, Shopify whichever takes your fancy, if you really think about all are valid ways to make money, as I have said before the internet is so vast and the global economy is shifting so quickly that when people want something they now naturally look at Amazon first, in fact I and others even check with Amazon before buying something when I am in a shop! the world is trying to save money and this is being passed onto our kids soon we will breed out going to shops to buy normal things, as our children grow up in an increasingly on demand world.
Then when you have that thing pursue it with every ounce of time and effort you can, read about it, build websites, get good at what you are doing then launch it and when it is launched watch it and make any changes you can, buy courses from the people that have made it, after all the stuff they giveaway free is good but but they are out to make money and guess what, you cannot hold that against them because that is what we are all trying to do.
For what it is worth I have chosen to look at affiliate marketing, I did previously look at Day Trading and Stock Market in General, but I weighed it up like this, there are plenty of courses out there and plenty of people that will sell you courses and promise 1k or 2k a day in six weeks or less with their 99$ system, without mentioning that traders spend Years and I mean Years, honing their skills and losing money one day and making it the next, I, at 43 years old just haven’t got the luxury of lone responsibility that is needed to accept those losses.
In summary life does not begin at 40, it simply carries on, if you want it to carry on the way it has to this point then that is awesome, either you have made a massive success of your life or you simply see no reason to change, I, however have realised that nothing I have done so far has made my life any more easy and that is what I want, not passive income because it does not exist, but I want the ability to choose when I work and for how long, and to create the wealth that is needed to live without worrying about money, you can join the rat race for free but you have to buy your way out! crucially though it does not end at 40, it is that bit harder than it was 10 years previously, you have less time, and more responsibility so the best thing to do is stop talking about it and start working at whatever the hell it is you are going to do.
Check out my activity on Strava: https://strava.app.link/vqFsfyjkeY
I do cardio first thing in the morning so it is time limited, as the 5k walks were getting easier I had to find a way to increase my output, so went faster! But initially for less time and distance, however this will pick up and I will pass my previous calorie expenditure in no time, proving that sometimes to move forward you have to take a little step back.
